DON'T BURY YOUR HISTORY.
They taught us to bury it.
At first they meant the litter.
Then they meant the embarrassing parts. The failures. The mistakes. The things we made that nobody else understood.
Eventually, we learned to bury ourselves.
I spent years pretending Poo Boy never existed.
But Poo Boy made the mask.
The mask made Pookitty.
And Pookitty made the specimen.
I found the old version of myself sitting on a toilet with a book in my hands.
One man had already turned the thing everyone calls disgusting into art, history and value. I looked into the bowl and understood what I had forgotten.
The thing they told me to hide would become the thing I made impossible to ignore.
You do not have to pretend your weird past never happened just because you grew up.
Don't bury where you came from.
